Wellington Phoenix v North Queensland Fury 20 – Sept – 2009
Wellington Phoenix v North Queensland Fury 20 – Sept – 2009 www.a-league.com.au Phoenix concede late A late strike by Chris Grossman has seen North Queensland Fury grab a share of the spoils with a 1-1 draw in its Round 7 Hyundai A-League clash against the Wellington Phoenix. The midfielder struck deep into stoppage time at a sun-soaked Westpac Stadium just when the Phoenix looked on course for its second win of the season. The Phoenix led for most of the game thanks to a sixth minute effort from Leo Bertos but in truth the home side only has itself to blame after wasting several clear cut chances as it did in last weekends 1-1 draw away at Melbourne. Paul Ifill was again the pick of the Phoenix and although the big forward did not get on the score sheet his high work-rate meant he was a constant thorn in the side of the North Queenslanders. He set up Bertos goal, delivered some great ball into the box which went unrewarded and show deft touches as he regularly beat the defence but he was forced from the field with a hamstring strain with well over half-an-hour remaining. It was Ifill who beat two defenders to set up Bertos opener. Having jinked his way past the defence he lobbed the ball into the box where it bounced off Andrew Durantes shoulder into Bertos path and the midfielder stabbed it home. The Phoenix could have been 3-0 up inside the first 20 minutes but for the goalkeeping of Paul Henderson. The Fury stopper produced a fine save to deny Tim Brown after a great …

Johnny J Remembered-by S-Endz (Part 1 of 2)
JOHNNY J REMEMBERED – PART 1 In 2006 I interviewed legendary hip-hop producer Johnny J at his studio just outside of LA as part of a documentary about Tupac Shakur to mark the 10th anniversary of his passing. Johnny was a great interviewee, a hospitable host, and generally a very cool guy. He went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate us, we spent several hours chatting (on and off mic), discussing everything from Tupac (obviously) to old school funk music (which Johnny, ‘Pac, and I all shared a love of), to the current state of the hip-hop scene and much more. After we were done we jumped in Johnny’s car and he took us to Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles to grab some food. We stayed in contact for a while, and in October 2008 I heard the sad news that Johnny had passed away in a reported suicide. However, I and others do not necessarily believe this was the case. This is a recap of my interview with Johnny, synced with previously unseen photos from my trip. To read more of my thoughts regarding my interview with Johnny, and more memories from the experience, please visit www.s-endz.com … RIP JOHNNY J – ‘UNTIL THE END OF TIME’

In what can only be called an Easter miracle several air traffic controllers in Southern Florida were able to guide a plane to a successful landing after its pilot fell unconscious and a passenger had to fly the aircraft all during a heavy traffic push due to the holiday and good weather. Said NATCA President Patrick Forrey: If you were to ask any one of the controllers who worked this event about what happened over the skies of South Florida they would tell you that it was just a typical day at the office and that it was merely their job however, the actions they all took to save the passengers aboard the flight were beyond heroic. They all went above and beyond the call of duty and it is times like these that I hope the flying public can see the invaluable lifeline that controllers provide every day and particularly in emergency situations. These men and women are true heroes and Im proud to be in the same profession as them. At approximately 1:30 pm …
